HA LONG BAY, VIETNAM
Happy Friday! It's Jeff and this week we're hopping aboard a junk boat in one of Asia's most dramatic landscapes.
Vietnam’s Fantasy Land
What's special about it: Ha Long Bay is a dreamy stretch of emerald green water dotted with thousands of limestone islands and jungle-covered cliffs. Here's a video rundown.
Tell me more: Between the otherworldly scenery, mysterious caves, and floating villages, it feels straight out of a fantasy movie. The area is also a UNESCO World Heritage site, so it's as culturally rich as it is stunning.
Where is it: Northern Vietnam, about 3 hours east of Hanoi by car or bus. Most people book tours that include transportation. This is where it is on a map.
Who’s It For: Nature lovers, relaxed travelers, and anyone who wants to unplug on a boat with killer views. Great for couples, solo adventurers, and even friend groups looking for something different.

How much does it cost: Sailing around Ha Long Bay is surprisingly affordable. Budget junk boats are only $100-150 per person for a 2-day tour. More expensive luxury options also exist.
Top Things to Do
Cruise the bay on a traditional junk boat
Kayak through caves and hidden lagoons
Visit floating fishing villages
Check out Sung Sot (Surprise) Cave
Best food to try: You have to try fresh seafood straight from the bay including grilled squid and crab. If you're extra adventurous, grab the local dried worm dish "sá sùng."
Hidden Gem: Bai Tu Long Bay—just northeast of Ha Long—is less crowded but equally jaw-dropping.
Ha Long Bay is one of those spots I keep finding myself returning to. There's nothing quite like sailing aimlessly through limestone islands.
Thanks for following along. I'll catch up with you next week!
See you out there - Jeff
