UYUNI SALT FLATS, BOLIVIA
Happy Friday! It's Jeff and this week we're taking a tour of earth's biggest mirror.
BOLIVIA’S ALIEN WORLDS
Why you should go: The Uyuni Salt Flats stretch over 4,000 square miles of surreal, shimmering landscape in southwest Bolivia. It’s like stepping onto another planet—blinding white in the dry season, and an endless sky mirror when it rains. Here's a great all-around guide.
Tell me more: There’s truly nothing else like it. The salt flats transform with the seasons, making for insanely photogenic moments. Plus, flamingos, geysers, and colorful lagoons nearby only add to the magic.
Where is it: Uyuni is a small town in southwestern Bolivia. Most travelers fly into La Paz or Sucre, then hop on a flight or overnight bus to Uyuni.
Best time to visit: You choose. For crisp, dry salt patterns and better driving conditions: visit May–October. For mirror reflections: go during the rainy season (Jan–March).

Top things to do:
Snap wild photos on the salt flats
Visit the Train Graveyard just outside of Uyuni
Watch sunset and then stargaze on the flats
Relax at the Salt Hotel made entirely of—you guessed it—salt
My favorite hike: Go exploring around Isla Incahuasi, a cactus-covered island in the middle of the flats.
But where are the flamingos: At the Eduardo Avaroa Reserve! In addition to flamingos, there are geysers and even a secret lagoon.
Pro Tips: Pack layers—temps swing from hot sun to freezing nights real quick. And don’t forget sunglasses; the salt glare is no joke!

Edit
Uyuni isn't easy to get to, but it's beyond worth it for anyone trying to get remote and wanting to take some mind-bending photos.
I'll be back next week with another bucket list destination.
See you out there - Jeff
